Perchance, of the grand things about 3-piece wheels is the ability to customize. It’s fairly typical to alter the barrel widths, with most drivers leaning towards additional width and lower offset. But one of the lesser-known modifications is for builders to change the diameter of their wheels. In Jaden’s case, he decided to use 16-inch BBS RS faces stepped up 2 sizes, mating them to 18-inch barrels. In addition to the unique double-step-up, Jaden decided to run Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires on his Nissan 240sx, which is probably a more rare sight (on that vehicle platform) than the wheels themselves.
Here we see Jaden’s ride with the OEM Nissan S14 wheels, lowered on coilovers. The double-step-lip BBS RS Wheels were assembled by Jason Mendieta. Because the wheels were stepped up twice, (16″ face and 18″ barrels) you’ll notice that the lip is extra wide — a love or hate effect to put it simply, though extraordinary nonetheless.
Mount and balance was a straight-forward affair. Here we can see how the Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires looked on the newly-assembled BBS wheels. This is the first time I’ve ever seen such expensive tires used on an S14, and it’s pretty awesome. More of this, please.
