Corolla with Carbon Fiber Hood

Granny’s Race Car – Jose’s Toyota Corolla

No one expected Toyota Corollas of this generation to be used for anything other than as first-time cars for high school kids and as grocery-getters for the elderly. They were generally seen as slow, disposable, cheap, and bland. But then Jose came by the shop and changed my perception of this model forever.

This Corolla was something quite special (for a Corolla). It was completely gutted everywhere, even the doors. It also had a carbon fiber hood, rear wing, racing wheels, and a set of rear tires meant for serious business.

Those tires made up a staggered set of Nankang AR-1s, with 245s in the front and 225s in the rear, strapped to a set of 15×8 Rays TE37 Wheels.

Corolla Race Car

I guess you really can race anything. Or rather, you can turn anything into a race car.
