Many moons ago, I regularly hosted track events at Apple Valley Speedway (back then known as “Grange Circuit”) with my old team Dreamer Soul. It was somewhat unique in that the track days were mixed drift and grip events, very beginner friendly, and not over-packed.

Fast forward to May this year, and a few friends and customers asked me to host this event once again. I figured why not — it’s been well overdue anyways. Luckily, my friend Tom was willing to take these photos, and I’m happy to share them with you.

Attendance was capped at about 25 drivers with a roughly even split between drifters and grippers. We did 15 minute run sessions between 4 groups (2 beginner groups and 2 intermediate groups) from start time until lunch, and drivers had the ability to move themselves between groups freely. After lunch, we did open-track and let everyone take care of themselves.

Meanwhile, the skid pad was open full-time for anyone who wanted to play over there.

There were a few drifters that I might consider calling back as instructors if they’re interested. And a Formula D driver showed up to do some shakedown laps towards the end of the day, which was pretty fun to watch. Fully-built, gutted race cars really do move a whole lot differently from street cars.

All-in-all, a really smooth day, and some people asked when the next one would be. Preferably when it’s not so hot; maybe a night-time event. Or possibly another day-time event at the end of summer. We’ll see! 😉

I’ve got about 50 more photos below. However, If you want to see the FULL-FULL gallery of about 150 photos, you can visit Tom’s Google Drive here. And if you like what you see, please drop him a thank-you at his Instagram Page.
